Provincial Minister for Human Rights and Minorities Affairs Khlail Tahir Sandhu has said on Tuesday that the Punjab government has taken concrete steps to eradicate terrorism and extremism in the province. The provincial government is implementing the National Action Plan (NAP) with full spirit. Provincial committees on interfaith harmony have been constituted to promote tolerance and interfaith harmony at gross root level.
The government has adopted comprehensive policies to promote religious harmony with the collaboration of religious scholars of all schools of thought which helps achieve positive results. He expressed these views while talking to High Commissioner of Canada Perry John Calderwood in a meeting on Tuesday. He said Pakistan has played an exemplary role in war against terrorism. He said the Punjab government has established a provincial task force on human rights to implement and monitor human rights laws in the province. Minorities living in Punjab are quite safe, their children are getting scholarships and financial assistance at various level.
On this occasion, Canadian High Commissioner Perry John Calderwood praised the sacrifices of Pakistan in war against terrorism. He said there are bilateral relations between Pakistan and Canada. He said that Canada always respected the stance and sacrifices of Pakistan in war against terrorism. Secretary High Commission Canada Jane Alkhoure was also present on the occasion.
