The Punjab Assembly in its 24th session here on Tuesday passed a resolution demanding the establishment of a university in each district of the province. MPA Waseem Akhtar moved the resolution during the assembly session which was chaired by Deputy Speaker Sher Ali Gorchani. The session commenced late due to lack of quorum.
As per information, membership of 13 members of legislative body out of 137 suspended by election commission has been restored while membership of 124 others is yet to be restored. A resolution by MPA Gulnaz Shahzadi regarding sale of note books to school children at cheap rates was disposed of by the chair in the session. A resolution by legislator Taimoor Masood asking for an action against illegal slaughter houses was kept in pending on the occasion.
Another resolution by MPA Ahmed Khan asking for prohibition of illegal sale of LPG in open was also kept in pending. To a query, the house was told by parliamentary secretary that Literacy Department Punjab has been making efforts to promote literacy in the province since 2002. To a query, house was further informed by the treasury that under Rules of Business 2011 Schedule 11, the Department of Prosecution can appoint prosecutors in those departments where they are not available. The house was later adjourned by the chair.
