Pakistan Cotton Ginners Association (PCGA) has issued the figures of cotton arrival up to October 15th, 2016. Seed cotton (Phutti) equivalent to over 43,74,982 bales of cotton have reached ginneries across Pakistan as of October 15th showing a decrease of 6.19 per cent compared to corresponding period last year when ginneries received 46,63,876 bales. According to fortnightly report of the PCGA issued here, Chairman of PCGA Dr Jeso Mal, Senior Vice Chairman Suhail Mehmood Haral briefed about cotton production and said Out of the total arrivals, 4.37 million bales of cotton have been converted into bales so far.
Ginneries in Punjab recorded arrival of 19,57,961 bales recorded decrease of 9.03 percent. Sindh ginneries recorded arrival of 24,17,021 bales while last year Sindh received 25,11,636 bales merely 3.77 percent less. Ginneries in Sindh recorded a shortfall of 3.77 as compared to corresponding period last year. Textile mills have bought 31,44,090 bales while exporters bought 295,490 bales.
The total bales sold out so far were calculated at 32,39,580 bales. Multan received 73,776 bales 96.01 percent increase than last year, Lodhran 47,720 bales 23.1 percent increase, Khanewal 2,73,294 bales 1.99 percent short, Muzaffargarh 90,697 bales a decrease of 13.85 percent, Dera Ghazi Khan 92,824 a decrease of 21.99 percent, Rajanpur 1,16,394 bales, 17.49 percent decrease, Layyah 88,100, 9.99 percent decrease, Vehari 1,57,186 bales 24.53 percent less, Sahiwal 1,19,965 bales 28.60 percent less than last year, Pakpattan 27, 644 bales 53.17 percent less, Okara 13,457 -29.89 percent less, Toba Tek Singh 87,802 bales, Faisalabad 21,000 bales, Jhang 18,242, Mianwali 78,725 an increase of 21.95 percent, Bhakkar 325,294 Sargodha 3,200, Rahimyar Khan 1,39,142 bales, Bahawalpur 2,17,887 an increase of 13.47 percent,and Bahawalnagar 2,55,650 128 an increase of 24.63 percent.
In Sindh: Hyderabad 1,93,156 bales 7.43 percent less than last year, Mirpur Khas (Thar) 2,07,392 bales 19.48 percent less, Sangarh, 10,74, 564 bales 6.37 percent increase, Nawabshah 2,36,045 bales, Naushero Feroze 1,62,540 bales, Jamshoro 91,894 bales, Badeen 22,849 bales and Baluchistan 48,400 bales. Total 931 ginning factories are operational in the country. Of them, 661 in Punjab and 270 in Sindh. Total 11,35,402 bales are lying in unsold stock.
