New York Times scion Sulzberger promoted to deputy publisher

Arthur Gregg Sulzberger, 36, has been named deputy publisher of the New York Times, the newspaper said on Wednesday, a promotion placing him in line to succeed his father at the top of the masthead. The younger Sulzberger, known as "A.G." will report to his father, publisher Arthur Sulzberger, Jr, 65, and senior editorial staff "on all facets of the business and news operations of The New York Times Company," The Times said in a statement. The appointment takes effect on November 1. The Times has been owned by the Ochs Sulzberger family since 1896.
