Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan on Thursday drew flake from ruling Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) leaders, for his Islamabad lockdown, accusing him of spreading and sponsoring terrorism in the country through such strike calls. PML-N leaders Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry and Daniyal Aziz while addressing at a press conference said that Panama case was now under the jurisdiction of Supreme Court, and there is no need to take coercive measures to block the capital city and create serious hurdles for 1.5 million inhabitants and others people visiting the capital for various purposes.
"There are the constitutional rights of Islamabad residents, who must be respected by not taking any unconstitutional measures and the government is committed to protecting their rights in any case," Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry said. The Chaudhry said the government will ensure the legal rights of the residents of Islamabad, and they will be free to do their day-to-day activities on November 2.
Taking the charge after the Chaudhry, PML-N leader Daniyal Aziz notched up his pitch against the PTI chief by accusing him of instigating terrorism in the name of politics and Khan was providing weapons to a group of 500 men as well as seeking support of the outfit organisations to create unrest and bring death and destruction in the federal capital so that he can attain his goals.
"We have received information that the PTI is not only providing weapons to party workers but also trying to get the support of banned outfits for which the PTI provincial government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has allocated significant amount in this year's budget," Aziz said.
Aziz also questioned the financial integrity of Khan and his party's secretary general, Jahanghir Khan Tareen saying that there are references against the two in the ECP filed over the loopholes present in the affidavits submitted by the respective leaders. He further alleged that the PTI remains absent in the standing committee meetings working on legislations relevant to financial transparency. "The PTI is following nefarious designs to achieve its political objectives," said Aziz.
The PML-N leader said that Imran Khan has nothing to do with accountability as he is not interested and only gaining political benefit of the matter. He also professed that Imran Khan is obsessed by the greed for power. Daniyal Aziz said there is no need for any protest or the call for shutting down Islamabad on the Panama leaks issue when the Supreme Court has initiated proceedings into the PTI's petition in this regard.
He said the Prime Minister's welcome of the initiation of the proceedings by the Supreme Court proves his seriousness in the matter. He said the matter is also being heard in the Election Commission of Pakistan, the parliament, and the Lahore High Court. However, Imran Khan is not serious in accountability since day one, but he is trying to use this matter as a pretext to derail democracy. He pointed out whether the Supreme Court will be able to work if Islamabad was forcibly closed on November 2.
