The National Assembly Standing Committee on Human Rights on Thursday passed "The National Commission on Status of Women (Amendment) Bill, 2016," without any amendments. Meeting of the committee was held under the chair of MNA Babar Nawaz Khan in the Parliament House.
The bill of National Commission on Status of Women was moved by MNA Dr Nikhat Shakeel Khan seeking amendments in sections 4 and 8, Act VIII of 2012. After going through the bill, the committee members decided to approve the bill without any further amendments. The committee members also went through the bill "The Women in Distress and Detention Fund (Amendment) Bill, 2016" (Amendment of section 6, Act XV of 1996) in detail. However, keeping in view the volume and length of the bill, the committee decided to defer the bill till next meeting. The committee also reviewed the existing law of Human Organ Transplant Authority (HOTA) in detail and recommended certain amendments therein.
