The National Assembly Standing Committee on Cabinet has expressed its concern over illegal lease agreement of Grand Hayat Hotel and directed relevant ministry to take strict action to recover the investment of Pakistanis and overseas communities. The committee met with Parveen Masood Bhatti in the chair at Parliament House on Thursday, where issues related to Grand Hayat Hotel, Islamabad, illegal housing societies, Capital Development Authority (CDA), were discussed.
The committee directed that CDA may identify the black sheep in their departments found involved in illegal lease agreement, and pursue the court cases effectively so that culprits could be penalised accordingly. The committee members expressed displeasure over the mushroom growth of illegal housing societies and directed that CDA may ensure that each housing society may get No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the CDA before selling a single plot. The committee further directed that CDA may strengthen its Enforcement Wing to remove encroachments in Islamabad without discrimination. The committee deferred the remaining agenda items till its next meeting.
The meeting was attended by MNAs including Rana Muhammad Qasim Noon, Dr Mehreen Razzaq Bhutto, Marriyum Aurangzeb, Farhana Qamar, Shahnaz Saleem, Nighat Parveen Mir, Moulvi Agha Muhammad, Syed Ali Raza Abidi, Seema Muhiuddin Jameeli and senior officers of the relevant ministries/departments.
