Sheikhupura plant: Atlas Honda celebrates completion of second production line
Atlas Honda Ltd (AHL), Honda's motorcycle production and sales joint venture in Pakistan, on Thursday celebrated the completion of a new second production line at its existing Sheikhupura plant. With the newly added 2nd line, the assembly capacity of the plant now reaches 1.2 million units, which is double from its original 600,000 units, a spokesman of AHL said today.
AHL plans to carry out its production enhancement in machining and other fields at the Sheikhupura Plant during the next three years in stages to accommodate the expected expansion of the motorcycle market in Pakistan, he added. The new facility was inaugurated by Takahiro Hachigo, President, CEO and representative Director of Honda Motor Co, Ltd; Shinji Aoyama, Operating Officer and Director, Chief Operating Officer , Motorcycle Operations of Honda Motor Co, Ltd Noriaki Abe, Chief Operating Officer, Regional Operations (Asia & Oceania) of Honda Motor Co, Ltd (and President & CEO of Asian Honda Motor Co, Ltd); Aamir H Shirazi, President of Atlas Group; and Saquib H. Shirazi, President and CEO of Atlas Honda Ltd, Takahiro Hachigo said, "Pakistan is now grown to the sixth largest motorcycle market in the world. I am pleased to celebrate the expansion of the factory. Honda would like to see more customers' smiles by providing products with the highest quality yet at a reasonable price."
Saquib H Shirazi said, "With the enhancement of the production capacity, Atlas Honda is now well poised to serve the needs of the customers in a timely manner. The successful partnership between Honda Motor and Atlas Group, which is now in its 53rd year, is a symbol of the Pakistani market's resilience and future potential." The annual assembly production capacity has now become 1.35 million units, with 150,000 units from the Karachi Plant, and 1.2 million units from the Sheikhupura Plant.
