The State Minister for Federal Education and Professional Training Balighur Rehman on Friday said that Pakistan has considerably changed from being labelled as a terrorist nation to a flourishing economy during the last three and a half years.
"The state institutions had become redundant when we took over [in 2013] the discontinuity of democratic process was the main reason for all this [and] repeated derailment of democratic process had been the main hurdle in development of the country," he added. However, he said that consistent efforts by the incumbent government in the right direction helped in empowering these institutions again, and still we need to go a long way in making Pakistan a truly developed and preposterous country, for which all-out efforts are being made.
Speaking at a certificate distribution ceremony of middle level training of organisational managers at PTV Academy here, he said that international media projected Pakistan a dangerous country in the past, but now proclaiming it as a new emerging market in the world for investment opportunities. "Peace had been restored in Karachi and entire country with bold and effective policies of the government," he added. China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) was a major project; the minister said, adding, "We are thankful to China for supporting the country to make it tiger of Asia". It was criminal negligence of the previous governments for not establishing new power houses to check electricity shortage, he added. China was investing over Rs 35 billion to strengthen power sector in Pakistan, said the minister, adding that through it the country would be able to eliminate power shortage till 2018.
Minister said that media studies and media related trainings are very important in this media age as well trained human resource is the key to success for any organisation. Getting trained from a veteran institute like Pakistan Television is an honour itself. Minister of State said that one should always strive for the excellence and such trainings are the first step in that direction. PTV has the best infrastructure in the country but it needs to be utilised more efficiently. As a state channel, we should equip ourselves with new technologies, innovation and novel ideas to compete globally. These are small efforts that really matter in a country's progress, emphasised the minister. He also said that trainings should be conducted in relax and friendly atmosphere, where participants should be given a fair chance to unwind themselves.
Minister of State said that country's situation has been improved over the period of last three and half years and we have come a long way from being labelled as a terrorist nation to a flourishing economy. There were institutes which were redundant when we took over but with the efforts in right direction we were able to make them effective again, said the minister. But we still have a long way to go. On the request, the minister assured all out technical, professional support to the officials of PTV Academy and said it would be linked with the technical institutions of Education Ministry.
