The Karachi Port handled 114,901 tonnes of cargo comprising 103,616 tonnes of import cargo and 11,285 tonnes of export cargo including 3,157 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Friday The total import cargo of 103,616 tonnes comprised of 23,422 tonnes of containerised cargo; 2,703 tonnes of general cargo; 41,191 tonnes of total bulk cargo: 20,175 tonnes of coal; 1,480 tonnes of palm kernel expeller; 17,926 tonnes of DAP; 1,610 tonnes of poultry feed and 36,300 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 11,285 tonnes comprised of 11,285 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 3,157 containers comprising of 1,421 containers import and 1,736 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday. The break-up of imported containers shows 580 of 20's and 410 of 40's loaded while 01 of 20's and 10 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 309 of 20's and 107 of 40's loaded containers while 259 of 20's and 477 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours. There were four ships namely APL Japan, Hyundai Confidence, Argent Cosmos and Liberty Pride carrying containers, oil tanker and vehicle respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were three vessels viz. Batam Trader, Sima Giselle and Lina Hua Song carrying containers and general cargo respectively currently at the berths. There were three ships namely MOL Dominance, Maersk Tampa, and Lina Hua Song carrying containers, oil tanker and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea on Friday while another ship namely Butinah carrying DAP is expected to sail on Saturday.
There were five vessels viz. APL Cyprine, Siva Rotterdam, Bunga Laurel, Asprouda and Grace Victoria carrying containers, chemical and mogas respectively due to arrive on Friday, while six vessels viz. MSC Federica, Hyundai New York, OOCL California, MSC Capri, Leopard and Dato Lucky carrying containers and chemical respectively are due to arrive on Saturday.
The total import cargo of 117,468 tonnes includes 40,237 tonnes of furnace oil; 18,000 tonnes of palm oil; 2,359 tonnes of project cargo; 3,500 tonnes of LPG; 28,000 tonnes of LNG; 2,620 tonnes of fertiliser; 6,659 tonnes of soyabean seeds and 16,093 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 54,859 tonnes includes 3,464 tonnes of cement and 51,395 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 3,552 containers comprising of 847 containers import and 2,705 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday. There were two ships namely CV Mataquito and MT Lion M carrying containers and furnace oil respectively sailed out to sea on Friday morning, while three ships namely CV Northern Jambore, MV Lady-Z and MT Gas Husky carrying containers, soyabean seeds and LPG respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of twelve vessels viz. CV Mataquito, CV Northern Jambore, MV SJ Africa, MV Pine-6, MV Cairboo, MV Lady-Z, MV Zhen Hua-21, MT M Gas, MT Al-Noman, MT Gas Husky, MT Argent Iris and MT M Lion currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, cement, fertiliser, project cargo, soyabean seeds, LPG and diesel oil respectively during the last 24 hours. As many as thirteen ships namely CV Attacama, CV Uni Florida, MV Patricia-IV, MV Attar, MV BBC Delaware, MT New Confidence, MT Al-Salam-II, MT Al-Soor-II, MT Bneider, MT Seleine, MT Bahra, MT Pavino Spirit and MT Argent Cosmos carrying containers, sunflower seeds, project cargo, clinker, diesel oil, furnace oil and palm oil were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim on Friday.
There were four vessels viz. CV Attacama, CV Uni Florida, MV Patricia-IV and MT Al-Soor-II carrying containers, sunflower seeds and diesel oil expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, FAP Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Friday. There were six ships namely CV Attacama, MV Africa Glory, MV Bochem Chent, MT Maran Gas Pericles, MT Genie and MT Harmony carrying containers, project cargo, chemical, LNG and furnace oil respectively due to arrive on Friday.
