KP Chief Minister Pervez Khattak has said that operation Zarb-e-Azb and border management has helped bring maximum improvement in law and order situation, saying that the provincial government has never attempted the forceful expulsion of Afghan refugees, rather have discouraged the illegal movement of unregistered refugees.
Talking to a 20-member delegation of Pakistan Media Club here in Chief Minister's House Sunday, he expressed the hope that there will no politics on this issue against facts.
On this occasion, he appreciated the efforts of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) and law-enforcement agencies for bringing improvement in the law and order situation. He said that extortion and kidnapping, which were a routine matter in past have been arrested into some extent.
The chief minister said that when he assumed the power, the province was confronted with numerous problems and due to unregistered foreigners. He said that the province has one million refugees while 0.3 million had gone back. He said that earlier, they were used to repatriate, but were coming back, but now we have controlled it.
The security agencies, he said, are now meeting on daily basis and exchanged information and working under a system.
To a question regarding the sit-in of November 2, he said they are demanding of the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to present himself for accountability, otherwise there will be anarchy. He said that people have become fed up of the federal government, it is better for to go back home without disgrace.
The chief minister said that the people have totally lost hope from the previous government and they are ready for becoming part of the revolution as they were against the status quo. For this purpose, he had tendered resignation during previous government and supported Imran Khan to meet the wish of change in system and resolved that on getting opportunity they will change the system and make government institutions according to the expectations of the people.
The chief minister said that they had set a target of the plantation of one billion trees under the Billion Tsunami Tree Project and in this connection 500 million plants will be planted by December 2016. He said that due to situation in past investors have escaped from the province. But the efforts of the present government had restored the confidence of investors.
He said that besides attractive incentives, the present government has also provided one-widow facility to investors and the conditionality of the issuance of no objection certificate (NoC) has been waived off and autonomous company with the name of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Economic Zones Development and Management Company (KP-EZMDC) has been constituted and industrial zones have been handed to it.
He said that investors are taking interest in KP government policies and 2500 acres land has been acquired by investors in a short period of two months. He said that steps are also being taken for the promotion of tourism, which was earlier working under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner (DC).
