Summary to separate SZABMU from PIMS sent to Prime Minister: Senate body informed
The Ministry of Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD) on Tuesday informed Senate Functional Committee on Government Assurance that a summary has been sent to the prime minister to separate Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Medical University from Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS). The committee met with Senator Agha Shahbaz Khan Durrani in the chair and discussed issues relating to Islamabad hospitals and Pakistan International Airlines (PIA).
The official of CADD Ministry told the committee that the procedure for appointment of 700 doctors in Islamabad hospitals is before the Supreme Court due to which the appointment of the doctors has been stopped for till court verdict. "The issue of appointments of doctors is in Supreme Court and we are waiting for court orders," the official said, adding we hope that the court will dispose of the matter soon so that the appointments could be made.
The committee also expressed anger over absence of relevant minister in the meeting. The chairman committee asked the secretary of ministry CADD to ensure presence of the minister in next meeting. The committee chairman conducted voting whether should be summoned now or in the next meeting, in which majority of the members voted that the minister be called in next meeting. Regarding dumping of garbage and waste in Nullah Lai, the committee asked to mayor Islamabad Sheikh Ansar Aziz to submit a report after consultation with relevant departments of Islamabad and Rawalpindi as to what he is going to do in this regard.
