Pakistan on Wednesday conveyed to Untied States that it was imperative to break the nexus between Afghan spy agency, National Directorate of Security (NDS) and Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) of India that are extending a covert support to terrorists for hitting soft targets in Pakistan including recent Quetta carnage. US Ambassador David Hale was told by Adviser to the Prime Minister on National Security Adviser Lieutenant General Nasser Khan Janjua (Retd) during a meeting.
According to a statement issued following the meeting, it stated that issues concerning heinous terrorist attack on Police Training College at Quetta, counter-terrorism operations and cross-border attacks came under discussion. The National Security Adviser briefed the US envoy on the efforts Pakistan is making to improve the security situation by implementing National Action Plan. "NSA [National Security Adviser] emphasized on the need to break the nexus of Afghanistan based terrorist who are operating under the patronage of NDS and RAW," said the statement, adding they are being covertly supported to come and hit the soft targets in Pakistan.
Janjua stated that terrorists who attacked the Police Training College were constantly in touch with their leadership based in Afghanistan. "Pakistan needs US support in this regard," the NSA was further quoted in the statement. He also stated that peace in Afghanistan is directly linked to the peace in Pakistan and political reconciliation in Afghanistan is inevitable for the stability of the region.
"Mr David condemned the attack on Quetta's Police Training College and expressed his deepest regrets and also offered all out help from US in this regard," it added. The US Ambassador also apprised NSA of the initiatives US has taken to improve security situation in Afghanistan. Heavily-armed three militants wearing suicide vests launched an attack on police academy in Quetta, killing at least 61 people and wounding at least 117 on Monday night.
