In another mass heist at M A Jinnah road, robbers took away cash and valuables worth Rs 4 million from 40 shops. According to reports, robbers broke into the shops at 2:00am at the Jami Centre early Thursday morning. Four unidentified men first held the watchman hostage and then broke into the shops, a shopkeeper said.
"We were shocked to see our shops looted when we arrived at work this morning," a shopkeeper said adding that they did not have CCTV cameras installed inside the market. Such mass heists have been on the rise and similar incidents have occurred in Urdu Bazaar, Plaza and Empress Market, all situated in the old city area. Police on Saturday claimed to have arrested the ringleader of a dacoit group involved in a number of heists. Weapons and stolen goods were also recovered from his possession.
