Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah will inaugurate "The 4th International LUMHS Dental Conference" scheduled to be held on Friday (today) at Liaquat University of Medical & Health Sciences Jamshoro. The theme of the Conference "Maxillofacial Trauma & Rehabilitation under Multi Disciplinary Approaches" has been selected as the facial injury is a serious clinical problem as it results in serious dysfunctions of the face.
The aesthetic and psychological aspects of injuries to the maxillofacial region are of great importance, as minor changes in the patient's facial appearance after trauma may cause severe psychological disruption. An estimated 1.2 million people world-wide lose their life each year and as many as 50 million are injured because of road accidents, occupying 45% of Maxillofacial surgical admissions, while in Pakistan road traffic accidents contribute to about 56% of maxillofacial trauma, other factors of maxillofacial trauma are falls, assaults, sports, fire arm injuries and industrial accidents.
