As many as 10 students of faulty of science, University of Karachi (KU) were awarded gold medals for top performance in their respective disciplines at a ceremony held at university's committee room on Friday. Addressing the ceremony, Vice Chancellor KU Dr Mohammad Qaiser advised the students to safeguard the honor and dignity of their varsity even after entering the practical life. He congratulated the parents of the students as well.
He said civilized society always has a large number of youth who has sound leadership skills. He said our meritorious students could play a pivotal role in addressing the current uncertainty in the society. "Contemporary age is of competition, only those individuals could succeed who are sound and competitive in their fields," he added. "You are the ambassador of Karachi University," the VC added. Dean Faculty of Science Professor Dr Syed Afrozuddin also congratulated the students and their parents. Students who received gold medals are Hina Baig from Agriculture and Agribusiness Management, Shumaila Moin from Botany, Zehra Haider from Biochemistry, Faizan Ansar, Dur-e-Shahwar Gul, Nuzhat Parvez, Atika Saud from Chemistry, Fariha Mateen from Genetics and Qurat-ul-Ain Hyder from Mathematics. Fakhr-un-Nisa from Chemistry got two gold medals for getting first position and highest marks in Analytical Chemistry. Mehwish Shabbir from Chemical Engineering too got two gold medals for getting first position in the department and also overall first position in the entire faculty of Science.
