The 35th meeting of the Senate of Mehran University of Engineering and Technology Jamshoro was held on Friday under the chair of the Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Muhammad Aslam Uqaili. The director Finance Munir Ahmed Shaikh while presenting Annual Budget 2016-2017 of Rs 2726.592 million informed that an amount of Rs 1338.966 million has been allocated in the head of salaries and other fringe benefits of the employees while Rs 292.300 have been reserved for pension of the retired employees.
Besides, he informed that Rs 101.500 million have been fixed for payment of utility bills, Rs 72.029 million for research activities, Rs 54.0 million for grant of scholarships to students and Rs 121.800 have been earmarked for travelling expenses of the students and employees of the university. He informed the meeting that Sindh Government had granted an amount of Rs 100 million last year which was insufficient to meet the financial challenges of the university.
