Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Economic Zones Development and Management Company (KPEZDMC) and Shaheen Vocational Training Institute (SVTI) in collaboration with United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Friday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to impart technical and vocational training to the unemployed youth of district Haripur. The training will be provided under the "Job Cell Program" of KPEZDMC.
Initially a batch of 75trainees has been successfully enrolled in the 'Industrial Training through Job Cell' Program. Registration is already in process for preparing more batches for the technical and vocational training. The ceremony was attended by the officials of both organizations. The trainees were briefed about the purpose of the training and employment prospects after the completion of the training. An orientation session for the trainees was also conducted where the trainees participated actively in sharing their views and concerns regarding the initiative by KPEZDMC.
According to the MoU, KPEZDMC and SVTI would coordinate the efforts in three major areas such as identification of demand driven trades for providing competency based training, technical and vocational training for imparting educational facilities to the local youth as well as creating employment opportunities for the pass outs through close coordination with the industrialists.
Under the arrangement the SVTI will provide entire technical support for achieving the objectives of technical and vocational training and non-formal education centers. KPEZDMC will depute its staff for regular monitoring and evaluation of the training activity.
According to the officials of the company the main purpose behind the Job Cell initiative is to eradicate the growing problem of unemployment and to provide support and assistance to the unemployed youth of the Province especially those with limited skills and resources. Furthermore, the launching of KPEZDMC's 'Job Cell Initiative' corresponds directly to the demand of the market and curriculum is designed in accordance with the "Competency Based Training" (CBT). In next phase the programme would also be extended to other districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
