This was announced by Chairman PNSC Arif Ilahi while speaking at Annual General Meeting (AGM) of PNSC. Arif Ilahi said the ferry service was being started to provide facilities to the general public of Karachi who travel on daily basis and faced lot of problems.
He informed that all arrangements were being made to start ferry service from Karachi to Pasni, Gwadar and Chah Bahar. The government had exempted the ferry service from all port charges till 2030. Chairman PNSC said the global shipping industry was facing huge losses however despite that situation PNSC was making profits.
He said PNSC would acquire two new ships by the end of this year. "We will prefer to acquire 10-year old ships that are comparatively affordable," he said. He said PNSC earned record profit during the year 2015-16. After seven years, PNSC earned profit of Rs 2313 million. The PNSC's per share earning has increased to Rs 18 and 20 percent cash dividend was given to the share holders.
