The government on Monday reiterated that no one will be allowed to lock down Islamabad. Addressing at a joint press conference, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leaders Talal Chaudhry, Muhammad Zubair and Daniyal Aziz said that those demanding accountability of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif have their own offshore companies.
They said that the government could do anything to maintain its writ as nobody will be allowed to lock down Islamabad, adding the entire family of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan was involved in making offshore companies.
He said that the 'groups' from Gujrat and Peshawar also had their names in the Panama Papers.
Daniyal said that Imran Khan and PTI leader Jahangir Tareen will also be searched in the Election Commission on November 2. "Imran Khan is going to lock down Islamabad against a person who does not even have his name in the Panama Leaks," he said.
Muhammad Zubair said that it was not PTI that would investigate Panama Leaks, adding Supreme Court was the right forum for accountability. What's the point behind sit-in and protests when Supreme Court has already issued notices, he asked.
He alleged that Imran Khan was seeking to pressurise the courts to get a decision in his favour. "Imran wants to lock down the federal capital and also hopes at the same time that there will be no arrests," Zubair added.
Talal Chaudhry said that PTI had every right to protest but could not be permitted to spread chaos and "invade" the capital city. He alleged that PTI was getting armed to occupy Islamabad.
Daniyal Aziz said that Imran Khan's plan is a security threat to the country and the government is responsible to foil such plans to protect the fundamental rights of the citizens.
Talal Chaudhry said that a provincial chief minister is setting a wrong tradition by running a campaign against the federal government first time in history of the country.
PML-N leaders said that government would ensure that all the educational institutions, trade centers, hospitals, offices, and roads remain open on 2nd of next month.
They said that every legal step will be taken to protect the lives and property of the citizens of the Islamabad Capital Territory.
