Senior Vice President of Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FPCCI), Sheikh Khalid Tawab has urged the Federal Finance Minister Senator Ishaq Dar and Chairman Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Nisar Muhammad Khan to extend the deadline for filing of Income Tax Returns (ITR) from October 31 to November 30, 2016.
He argued that a large number of business community members could not file their ITR mainly due to a variety of reasons such as uncertainty prevailing in the country because of a political party's announcement of sit-in (Dharna) for indefinite period of time, slowdown of normal business activities, Election of FPCCI member trade bodies, cumbersome and defective online system of e-filing of ITR etc.
The SVP of FPCCI elaborated that the IRIS - a FBR's portal - that allows online submission of refund claims had not been functioning since August 2016 to date, resulting linking-problems in filing of tax returns/refund claims.-PR
