Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday dismissed an intra-court appeal seeking to award title of Field Marshal to Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif.
A division bench comprising Justice Athar Minallah and Mian Gul Hassan Aurangzaib heard the appeal.
The bench questioned, whether the Constitution allowed such moves.
The appellant argued that the Constitution did not provide ground for it, but there was an example of Field Marshal Ayub Khan in the past.
After hearing the arguments, the court dismissed the appeal and termed it non-maintainable.
It may be mentioned here that the appellant had prayed in his plea that Army Chief Raheel Sharif should be awarded the title of Field Marshal for conducting successful operation Zarb-e-Azb against the terrorists.
