Asghar Khan case: LHC dismisses petition seeking implementation of SC judgement
Lahore High Court on Monday dismissed a petition of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaaf seeking implementation of Supreme Court judgement in Asghar Khan Case about distribution of money among politicians.
LHC Chief Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah while dismissing the petition for being not maintainable observed that the people named in Asghar Khan case were not only from Punjab but other parts of the country. Therefore, it was not the jurisdiction of the court and asked the petitioner to approach the SC for its implementation.
Fayyaz Mehr Advocate of PTI had filed the petition saying that the SC in 2012 had directed Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to hold inquiry into distribution of Rs 140 million among the politicians during the elections of 1990.
The petitioner said the SC had also ordered to proceed against the politicians found involved in this scandal.
He said that according to that scandal, PM Nawaz Sharif had also taken his share to topple the then PPP government.
But, the federal government and FIA were playing spectator's role regarding the issue.
