National Assembly Standing Committee on Communication Tuesday approved "The Post Office (Amendment) Bill, 2016" to provide the issuance of postal orders worth more than fifty rupees for the use and benefit of general public.
The Committee met with Muhammad Muzammil Qureshi in the chair at Postal Staff College, Sector G-8/4, Islamabad. The Committee discussed Pakistan Private Courier Regulatory Authority Bill, 2015 (moved by Belum Hasnain, MNA), The Post Office (Amendment) Bill, 2016, Lyari Expressway and M-P Motorway Project. The Post Office (Amendment) Bill, 2016 was presented in the meeting for discussion and was later unanimously approved.
The Committee also considered the Pakistan Private Courier Regulatory Authority Bill, 2015 (Moved by Ms. Belum Hasnain, MNA). The Committee directed Ministry of Communication to discuss the bill with other stakeholders and to submit its report within 15 days. The Committee took notice of the increase in the accidents on the M-9 Motorway from Karachi to Hyderabad and directed the authority concerned to take measures to control the accidents on the diversion area of M-9 project.
