The United States on Wednesday said it supports freedom of expression and the right to protest in Pakistan. Speaking at daily news briefing, the State Department spokesman John Kirby said that the US was aware of reports about protest activity in Pakistan, adding, "Those are questions that are better answered by Pakistani authorities." "The United States will continue to support freedom of assembly and freedom of expression. It's well documented that we do that," he said.
Commenting on the right of peaceful protest, Kirby said, "We want these rights to be exercised responsibly."
