More than 20,000 Overseas Pakistanis living in Denmark will be able to get dual nationality with the intervention of Federal Ombudsman M Salman Faruqui. Hafiz Ahsaan Ahmad Khokhar, Senior Adviser Law and Grievance Commissioner for Overseas Pakistanis to M. Salman Faruqui, Federal Ombudsman Pakistan took the matter with the Ministry of Interior on a complaint filed by the Pakistani Community living in Denmark, whereby they have requested that their matter of dual citizenship treaty with Denmark be settled the earliest.
Hafiz Ahsaan Ahmad Khokhar, Senior Adviser Law and Grievance Commissioner for Overseas Pakistanis asked the Ministry of Interior to settle the longstanding issue of Pakistani Community. The complaint was filed by the Pakistani Community living in Denmark which are more than 20,000 Overseas Pakistanis and they alleged that this matter was kept pending with the federal government so long.
According to the record, the top Pakistani Envoy in Demarks took the matter with the Danish government to allow dual nationality to Pakistanis Community. The Danish government after getting approval from its parliament allowed all Pakistani nationals having Danish nationality dual nationality. In this regard, more than 20,000 Pakistani nationals would be the beneficiary. It was a longstanding issue of Pakistani community living in Denmark which has been resolved through the intervention of the Federal Ombudsman.
Hafiz Ahsaan Ahmad Khokhar also pointed out that before allowing dual national to Overseas Pakistanis, Pakistan has treaty of dual nationality with 18 other countries e.g. UK, France, Italy, Belgium, Iceland, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Switzerland, Netherland, USA, Sweden, Ireland, Bahrain and Finland.
He said that the Ministry of Interior submitted that as per previous practice the Prime Minister of Pakistan would accord its approval, and then the Pakistani Community living in Denmark would be able to get dual nationality.
Before this, under the guidance of Federal Ombudsman M. Salman Faruqui, Grievance Commissioner of Federal Ombudsman Hafiz Ahsaan Ahmad Khokhar, at least 40 federal government departments have been connected with the website of Overseas Pakistanis for complaint purposes. To facilitate the overseas Pakistanis, One Window Desks have also been established on the six International Airports of Pakistan to facilitate Overseas Pakistanis in a shortest possible time. The Federal Ombudsman has also facilitated the Overseas Pakistanis to file complaints through Skype.
The Overseas Pakistanis have also been facilitated for the issuance of NICOP through NADRA, Issuance of FERC card and facilitated to send remittance to Pakistan in an easiest way than the hundi system. This is the first time that all Pakistanis Top Envoys are now listening the complaints of overseas Pakistanis without any prior appointment.-PR
