Glowing tribute was paid to the great national hero Nawab Liaquat Ali Khan, the first Prime Minister of Pakistan in a seminar held by Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology (SSUET) on Wednesday to mark Liaquat Day at the campus.
Addressing the seminar Jawaid Anwar, Chancellor Sir Syed University of Engineering & Technology, said that change is an integral part of growth and growth may be achieved by continuous efforts for development. Journey to progress should never be halted due to the lame excuses of unfavourable conditions.
Speaking on the occasion, Chancellor Jawaid Anwar said, Nawabzada Liaquat Ali Khan was the true patriot with modern thoughts who stood unwavering against the enemy and fight every challenge boldly that came his way. He had the ability to inspire people with his strong character, firm conviction and unwavering determination. He established Pak-China friendship in 1951 because he knew China was going to be the superpower in future. He was in favour of effective and firm relationships with Muslim countries and planning to bring out agriculture reforms in the country.
Chancellor Jawaid Anwar declared that the university tends to bring a booklet featuring the services and contribution of Liaquat Ali Khan during Pakistan Movement and afterwards. Renowned journalist and columnist Agha Masood Hussain said Liaqat Ali Khan was spiritually a strong person. He presented people-friendly budget as first Finance Minister of India and preferred independent foreign policy for Pakistan.
Mehfooz-un-Nabi Khan of Quaid-e-Millat Memorial Society said that the constitution assembly of Pakistan declared the title of Quaid-e-Millat for Liaquat Ali Khan that is inscribed at his grave.
