Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) in collaboration with Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) organized a workshop on export of apparel at a local hotel, which was participated by the members of PRGMEA and Pakistan Hosiery Manufactures Association (PHMA).
The objective of the workshop was to impart awareness among the participants about market diversification and skill development. Addressing the workshop, Chairman Pakistan Readymade Garments Manufacturers and Exporters Association (PRGMEA), Jawwad A Chaudhary thanked JICA for extending their help and support. He said that we will go ahead with the support of JICA and subsequently will be able to enhance our value added exports.
He further said that we need to go according to the market demand and added that the cost of production in Pakistan is higher as compared to our neighbouring countries. Secretary PHMA Muhammad Ayub said on the occasion that JICA's support and guidance is encouraging for improving out product development and product diversification. Hideaki Shimizu, JICA expert while delivering his presentation highlighted the issues with Pakistan's apparel industry.
He said Pakistan is less competitive in the world apparel market. Hideaki described in detail about the trend survey of international apparel industry. Hisao Nishiyama, JICA expert of PSDMD delivered his presentation on comparative analysis of Bangladesh and Pakistan. In its vote of thanks, TDAP mentioned that JICA's cooperation in apparel industry development can bring vital change in the export diversification.
