Rs 5 billion corruption case: SHC extends interim bail granted to Sharjeel, other accused

Sindh High Court (SHC) on Friday extended interim bail granted to former Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon and other accused in the Rs 5 billion corruption reference till November 15. SHC bench heard bail applications of Sharjeel Inam Memon and other accused in the corruption case. The court while extending interim bail granted to the accused and co-accused till November 15, directed National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to file reply in next hearing.
The court further directed the Investigation Officer to make sure his appearance in the next date of hearing. Zulfiqar Ali Shalwani and Mansoor Ahmed and others are co-accused in the Rs 5 billion corruption case. The PPP leader is living in self-exile in London for over a year after law enforcement agencies launched a crackdown against politicians and bureaucrats on various corruption cases. The NAB had filed a corruption reference against Memon, other Information department officials and advertising companies' representatives for illegalities in the process of awarding contracts worth over Rs 5 billion for official Sindh government awareness campaigns for the electronic media.
