Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Saturday said that the committee for holding probe into controversial story will be formed by Monday as names of its members have been presented to prime minister. Talking to a select group of journalists here, he said that a former high court judge will head the committee. "The committee will be comprised senior honest officers of intelligence agencies who have excellent professional track record", he added.
Nisar said that investigation to determine the person who leaked out the story to media is underway, but Pervaiz Rashid, who was shown the door in wake of the controversial story, is not under any investigation. The security czar reiterated that the prime minister has standing orders that whoever is involved in leaking out the sensitive story, must be taken to task, as it involved national security of the country. About remarks of chairman Senate Raza Rabbani, who wanted any investigation against Rashid, will be undertaken by parliament, Nisar plainly stated: "It's simply not possible." "I respect Rabbani as he is one of those PPP leaders who always stood by democratic but in this particular case, the parliament can not hold probe into it, if needed," he added.
He continued that it is not a child's play, as it involved national security of the country, and only the committee can hold probe into it. Once the names of the committee members will be announced, he added, it will be clear that the government wants a transparent probe into the matter.
