Malakand III Hydropower Station, the largest power producer from province-owned resources, has made a record electricity production during the current year owing to the best strategy of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government which not only helped minimize load-shedding problem but also enhanced income of the KP government.
Chief Executive Officer of Pakhtunkhwa Energy Development Organization (PEDO) Akbar Ayub Khan expressed these views at a high level meeting at Malakand III Hydropower Complex while examining the work pace of ongoing energy projects in the KP. The meeting was also attended by high officials of energy & power department.
During the briefing, it was informed that Malakand III HPS during the year 2015-16 produced 466 GwH of electricity which has been 19% higher as compared to previous production. The record production was made due to the best initiatives taken under PEDO's management and excellent government strategy.
The meeting also discussed the work progress on Pehur, Machai and other power stations and various proposals were floated at the meeting for enhancement of power production.
It was informed that Matiltan HPP Swat, Lawi HPP Chitral and other power projects were progressing in full swing.
The CEO of the PEDO Akbar Ayub expressed his satisfaction over the work progress on running power projects saying that provincial government was engaged in development of high range power stations alongside 356 mini micro hydel stations being installed in such backward areas where people are deprived of electricity.
He informed that more than 100 power stations were completed while remaining would be completed by the end of next year. He explained that the government power policy would bring energy revolution in the province which would rid the KP of menace of load-shedding forever.
