Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO) Board of Directors (BoD) on Monday approved the creation of 16 new sub divisions in Peshawar and Mardan circles. The BoD in its 112th meeting held here at WAPDA House also approved 111th BoD meeting minutes and discussed measures taken to make PESCO a profitable entity. The meeting was chaired by Chairman PESCO Board Malik Muhammad Asad Khan.
The meeting approved seven new sub divisions in Peshawar Circle bifurcating old sub divisions namely Nishtarabad, Lala, Wazir Bagh, Gulbahar, Utmanzai, Shabqadar and Gulbela sub divisions.
Similarly, nine new sub divisions in Mardan Circle have been bifurcated and trifurcated namely Lahore, Zaida, Thordher, Murghuz, Topi, Gadoon, Kalabat, Razar, Bamkhel, Cornal Sher Khan and KhadoKhel sub divisions, bifurcation of existing Mardan-2 division and creation of new Takhtbai Division along with office of Assistant Manager (Revenue), bifurcation of Swabi-1 division and creation of Razar Division, bifurcation of existing Swabi 2 Division and creation of new Topi division along with office of Assistant of Manager (Revenue), creation of Kohat Rural Division by bifurcation of Kohat Division and bifurcation of existing Mardan Circle into two and creation of New Swabi Circle along with all posts including Deputy Commercial Manager, Deputy Director M&T, Deputy Director Technical, and other supporting staff as per Pepco yard stick.
The Board also approved upgradation of Line Staff, Ministerial staff, Commercial, Accounts, Drawing staff and grant of BPS-17 to senior superintendents, revision of ministerial staff yard stick, purchase of vehicles for officers and field staff from scrap money.
Procurement of 250,000 static energy single phase meters, adoption and approval of the annual audited financial statement for the year ended on June 30, 2016 were also approved. The BoD was told that in the next five years, 38 new grid stations will be installed and upgradation of nine grid stations, rehabilitation of two grid stations, upgradation and installation of nine power transformers, installation of 551 Kilometer transmission line will be processed.
The BoD approved a cash prize of Rs 650,000 for the 13 officials of PMU and certificates for PMU Officials for their excellent performance. On the occasion, the Chief Executive PESCO Anwar ul Haq Yousafzai gave presentation to the board about PESCO's performance and informed that line losses have been decreased by 4.4 percent while recovery has been increased by 1.5 percent during the last quarter.
The board members included Chief Executive PESCO Anwar ul Haq Yousafzai, Syed Musawar Shah, Iftikhar Ahmad Khan, Colonel Jahanzeb Khan (Retd), Colonel Alam Zeb (Retd), Dr Amjad Ullah Khattak, Qamar Zaman, Nimat Ullah Abid, Chief Engineer Shabir Ahmad, Chief Engineer PMU Dr Muhammad Amjad, Chief Engineer Operation Mohsin Raza, Director General PR Shaukat Afzal, Director General HR Muhammad Saleem Jahangir and Secretary Board Khurshid Ahmad Orakzai.
