KP Inspector General of Police (IGP), Nasir Khan Durrani has said that Bomb Disposal Unit personnel performing most dangerous and sensitive duty in ongoing war against terror in a very professional and courageous manner by putting its precious lives at risk. He was addressing a cash and reward distribution ceremony held in honour of BDU personnel here at CPO Peshawar on Tuesday.
It merits mention here that on that day a big bang was heard in the vicinity of police station Daudzai, Shakarpura road which was later on identified as an IED planted near the plugging point with the intention to target the police officials. As a result a police constable sustained injuries who later on succumbed to injuries. The BDU team rushed to the spot and started sweeping the area the team noticed another explosive device and HC Zahid of BDU was tasked to defuse the same.
The area was properly cordoned off and at the meantime when HC Zahid of BDU was engaged in defusing the IED, the same blasted with a huge explosion and HC Zahid was thrown away from the spot by the shock waves of the explosion, luckily he survived and remained safe due to safety gears.
The people gathered on the occasion witnessing the whole episode highly appreciated the bold and courageous performance of the BDU Unit by shouting slogans of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police Zindabad, Pakistan Paindabad. Addressing the ceremony, the IGP informed that BDU jawans were performing frontline role in war against terror and it could be gauged from the fact that they successfully defused more than six thousands bombs in line of duty and thus saved the people from huge holocaust and catastrophic.
The IGP termed the BDU personnel precious asset of the force and wished for more achievements and success in their professional career. The IGP awarded BDU team, HC Zahid, Sub Inspector Irshad and HCs Sajad and Shakir with cash prizes and commendation certificates. PSO to IGP, Ashfaq Anwar was also present on this occasion.
