The Supreme Court on Tuesday issued notices to Attorney General for Pakistan, all the provincial law officers and Advocate General Islamabad in out of turn promotions of police officers. A 5-member larger bench led by the Chief Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali resumed the hearing of the matter. After a brief proceeding, the bench decided to hear the law points from principal law officer of the country and provincial law officers over Section 8A of the Punjab Civil Servants Act, 1974 read with Rule 14 and Sindh Service Rules' Section 9A.
The court is likely to ascertain the difference between the law in Sindh and Punjab and the other provinces in the matter. Hearing was adjourned till November 16.
