Punjab Food Authority (PFA) has started its working in Faisalabad in order to check the food quality and adulteration in food items under the vision of CM Punjab. Punjab Food Minister Bilal Yasin along with Director General Punjab Food Authority Noorul Ameen Mengal inaugurated the newly established office of PFA here at Muslim Town, Sargodha road.
DCO Salman Ghani, Deputy Director Operation PFA Shahbaz Ahmad, Food Safety Officers, other staff and representatives of civil society were present on the occasion. Talking to the media Punjab Food Minister Bilal Yasin said that Punjab government was very much committed to eliminate the adulteration in food items and sale of unhygienic/substandard edibles from the society. He said that PFA had been established under amended laws & rules for strengthening the system of checking of food items and taking the adulteration mafia into logic end by awarding them punishment.
The minister told that PFA was establishing its offices in Faisalabad, Multan, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala and Muree in first phase and it would be expanded up to entire Punjab in near future for massive and vigorous operation against the sale and process of unhygienic and adulterated food items.
He informed that the CM Punjab had approved the project of establishment of state of art multi purpose food and drug testing laboratory at a cost of billion of rupees for testing the food and drugs on international standard in order to ensuring the pure and genuine food and drugs for the citizens. He said that the restaurants, hotels, food outlets, bakeries, sweet shop and other eateries were being checked without any discrimination and heavy fines were being imposed against the owners for violating of pure food license and food act.
