Pakistan secured second position in the 'Commonwealth Senior Wrestling Championship,' held from November 3 to 7 at Singapore, as Wapda wrestlers, representing Pakistan, excelled in the Championship. As many as 18 countries participated in the event. Out of the 8-member Pakistani team, seven wrestlers belong to Wapda. It is worth mentioning here that all the medals including two-silver and 11-bronze were won by Wapda wrestlers for Pakistan, details of which are as under:
Muhammad Bilal (57 Kg) one Silver medal in freestyle and one bronze in Greco Roman; Abdul Wahab (61 Kg) two Bronze medals in Freestyle and Greco Roman; Abdul Rehman (70 Kg) two Bronze medals in Freestyle and Greco Roman; Muhammad Asad Butt (74 Kg) two Bronze medals in Freestyle and Greco Roman; Muhammad Inam (86 Kg) one Silver medal in Freestyle; Muhammad Umair Tariq (97 Kg) two Bronze medals in Freestyle and Greco Roman and Muhammad Zaman Anwar (120 Kg) two Bronze medals in Freestyle and Greco Roman. While congratulating the Wapda players on their brilliant performance in the event, Wapda Sports Board has expressed the hope that Wapda players would continue to bring laurels to Pakistan in the international events.
