In order to create awareness among business community and other stakeholders of the importance of corporatisation and post-incorporation compliance requirements in the light of recent amendments to the rules and regulations, the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) organised a seminar in collaboration with the Lahore Tax Bar Association.
Liaqat Ali Dolla, additional registrar, SECP's Company Registration Office, Lahore, highlighted the importance of corporatization and corporate compliance. He highlighted the measures taken by the SECP to increase corporatisation and corporate compliance and encourage feedback from participants for making the SECP's existing services more efficient.
Shahbaz Sarwar, joint registrar of companies, gave a brief presentation on e-incorporation, Companies (Compliance with Licensing Conditions) General Order, 2016 and amendments to Companies (General Provision & Forms) Rules, 1985. Farhan Shahzad, president of Lahore Tax Bar Association, appreciated the SECP's contribution in the development of corporate sector and expressed his interest in holding these seminars on a regular basis. He proposed that such interaction with stakeholders would be a regular feature in future.
Additional registrar informed the audience that being the apex regulator of the corporate sector, the SECP has always collaborated with the professional and trade bodies in the past, and plans to conduct more seminars and workshops in collaboration with other professional and trade bodies as well, in near future to seek their feedback and to create an environment of mutual trust between the business community and regulator, for enhancing corporate compliance of companies through improvement in its services and by creating awareness among the stakeholders.
