Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) Chairman Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao has expressed concern over the delay in the integration of Fata with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and stated that people residing in Fata have cultural, social, economic and political affiliations with people of the KP.
The chairman said that people of Fata and KP are one in every aspect and efforts to sabotage their unification are a futile attempt by the foes of Pakhtuns and Pakistan. These views were stated by the Chairman while addressing a joining ceremony in Wadapga area in the vicinity of Peshawar.
While addressing a massive gathering, the chairman referred to his speech in the Parliament in which he presented evidence on the integration and unification of KP and Fata. The facts were not only endorsed by representatives of Fata in the National Assembly but also by members of other political parties, Sherpao added. Aftab Sherpao further clarified that the ruling elite of the country are exploiting Pakhtuns and taking control over their resources by dividing them. Being the true representatives of Pakhtuns, the Chairman expressed firm conviction that Qaumi Watan Party will strive for the rights of Pakhtuns in KP and Fata.
He criticised the Federal government for delay in provision of the net hydel profit, ignoring the Pakhtuns belt in the development projects associated with CPEC, usurping the revenue from the province's natural resources such as oil and gas and termed them as the cause for backwardness of Pakhtuns and the basic reason that is threatening national unity in the country.
The chairman appealed to the federal government to revise its policy keeping in view the modern requirements and ensure provision of rights to the smaller federating units in Pakistan which will ensure a strong and sustainable federation of Pakistan. While addressing the gathering, Senior Minister for Irrigation and Social Welfare, Sikandar Khan Sherpao clarified that QWP's decision to join the treasury benches in the province was an attempt to serve the people of the province. The minister also demanded that the federal government should hold census in the country upon which efficient planning will be possible for the future. Moreover census in the country will also ensure just division of the resources in the country thereby strengthening the federation.
