Punjab's immunisation coverage rose to 88 percent in past 20 months thanks to technology platform said Information Technology University (ITU) VC and Chairman of Punjab IT Board (PITB) Dr Umar Saif at the international Tech Conference 2016 in Boston, USA.
Dr Saif highlighted how PITB's system using of smart phone applications and sophisticated satellite imagery analysis had turned around the entire vaccination program in Punjab.
He said the same program would be initiated in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan and Gilgit Baltistan with the help of UK's Department for International Development (DFID).
Dr Saif's address focused on his work in designing technology for the developing world in order to enhance the coverage of immunisation for children in Pakistan, which was applauded by the other participants at the conference.
The event was organized by MIT and USAID and was attended by over a 100 global innovators, policy makers, researchers, NGOs and representatives from across the globe including the President of MIT, Head of Innovations at USAID, Chief Scientist of the USAID and academicians from MIT, Harvard, UC Berkeley and University of Washington.
