The Karachi Port handled 178,054 tonnes of cargo comprising 131,103 tonnes of import cargo and 46,951 tonnes of export cargo including 3,559 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Tuesday
The total import cargo of 131,103 tonnes comprised of 46,480 tonnes of containerised cargo; 17 tonnes of general cargo; 47,666 tonnes of total bulk cargo: 22,224 tonnes of coal; 21,832 tonnes of DAP; 3,610 tonnes of soyabean meal and 36,940 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. The total export cargo of 46,951 tonnes comprised of 26,669 tonnes of containerised cargo; 25 tonnes of general cargo; 1,557 tonnes of rice and 18,700 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
As many as 3,559 containers comprising of 1,536 containers import and 2,023 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday. The break-up of imported containers shows 548 of 20's and 493 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 01 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 378 of 20's and 288 of 40's loaded containers while 113 of 20's and 478 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were four ships namely MSC Nicole, HS Wagner, SKS Trinity and Chemway Arrow carrying containers and oil tankers respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were eight vessels viz. HS Wagner, Kota Lahir, Batam Trader, Hammonia Virginia, Taroko, Alpine Meadow, Bunga Lucerne and Sam Jaguar carrying containers, oil tankers and coal respectively currently at the berths.
There were two ships namely Hyundai Vancouver and Bunga Lucerne carrying containers and oil tanker respectively sailed out to sea on Tuesday while two ships namely Kota Lahir and Classy Victoria carrying containers and oil tanker respectively are expected to sail on Wednesday.
There were three vessels viz. OOCL Italy, APL Pearl and Amis Wisdom carrying containers and coal respectively due to arrive on Tuesday while six vessels viz. Kota Kasturi, MOL Experience, Wan Hai-511, Al-Soor-II, Dong A Peneus and Darleakay carrying containers, oil tanker, chemical and rice respectively are due to arrive on Wednesday.
