The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Wednesday adjourned the hearing of disqualification petitions filed against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan, PTI Secretary General Jahangir Tareen and PML-N MNA Captain Safdar (Retd) till November 22. While hearing the disqualification case relating to references against Imran Khan, Jahangir Tareen and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's son-in-law Captain Safdar (Retd), the ECP directed them to file their replies by November 22.
The electoral body took up the disqualification references sent by Speaker National Assembly Ayaz Sadiq against Imran and Tareen. Later, talking to media persons outside the ECP office, PML-N parliamentarian Daniyal Aziz asked Imran to defend his alleged 'foreign funds' in the courts.
Aziz said that Imran is trying to avoid answering questions about his offshore funds. He said the PTI Chairman would soon be apologising for hurling allegations at the Sharif family. Aziz said his party has submitted evidence in the court and now it is Imran Khan's turn to come out with concrete evidence. Another PML-N parliamentarian, Talal Chaudhry, said Imran should answer the allegations of tax theft and money laundering. On the other hand, PTI leader Naeem-ul-Haq said his party is not afraid of anyone. Imran had himself said he was ready to present himself for accountability, he said. "We are not hiding anything. We are ready to present Imran's documents whenever asked," he added.
