Top seed Laiba Ijaz, second seed Nirma Aqeel in Girls and top seeded Hamza and fourth seeded Abbas Nawaz took berth into the final of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Junior Girls and Boys Junior Squash Championship being played here at PAF Jansher Khan Squash Complex Thursday. Former World Champion Qamar Zaman also witnessed the matches wherein Laiba in the first semi-final defeated Maira Khan in the thrilling encounter the score was 11-8 and 11-6 and 11-4.
Laiba fully dominated the proceedings and did not allow Maira to strike back. Laiba fully utilised her cross court smashes and some beautiful nick and drops were also witnessed. Maira did some resistance in the first set she led by 3-8 but Laiba came back strongly and levelled the tally 8-8 before winning the set at 11-8.
Nirma Aqeel lost the first set by 7-11 but she staged a strong comeback and secured victories in three consecutive sets, the score was 12-10, 11-9 and 13-11. Nirma Aqeel led the second set but was twice tied by Hira at 7-7 and 10-10. In the third set Nirma also led the way by taking a clear lead of 8-2 but Hira on the other hands tied the tally first at 8-8 and then at 9-all before winning the set at 11-9. In the boys semi-final top seed Hamza Niaz defated Sheraz Akbar by 3-0, the score was 11-5, 11-9 and 11-7 and Abbas Nawaz beat Yaseen Khattak by 3-0, the score was 11-9, 11-8 and 11-9. The final of the Championship will be played on Friday.
