Guard Group overpowered Sapphire/Black Horse by 6-2 in the Pool-A match to qualify for the main final of the Treet Polo Cup 2016 while Rijas beat Diamond Paints to book berth in the subsidiary final here at the Lahore Polo Club (LPC) ground on Thursday. On the third day of the tournament, the first match was played between Diamond Paints and Rijas which ended in 3-3 draw.
The match was then decided in the sudden death chukker, where Atif Yar Tiwana hammered a splendid goal to help Rijas register a thrilling victory. Earlier from Rijas, Azam Hayat Noon scored a brace while Mir Huzaifa Ahmad thwarted three from Diamond Paints. In the second match of the day, Guard Group played well against Sapphire/Black Horse and outlasted them by 6-2. Taimur Ali Malik was star of the day for Guard Group, who pumped in four goals while Saqib Khan Khakwani and Taimur Mawaz Khan hit one goal apiece. From Sapphire, Hissam Ali Hyder and Babar Monnoo scored one goal each.
