Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA) in collaboration with Livestock Department, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and other partner organisations has organized a series of training programs for livestock farmers. The purpose of the first session at Kheshgi, Nowshehra was to train the dairy farmers and traders on Market Opportunities.
Second session held at Domail, discussed about the Dairy Farming with the farmers. In the third program at DI Khan, the livestock farm management concept was presented in detail by the experts. During these sessions, the dairy traders of Nowshehra expressed interest in the up-gradation of their milk chiller units whereas the farmers and fodder traders of Domail were interested in help for provision of cattle feed machineries.
Before the training, the dairy farmers also had reservations about use of milking machinery due to misperception of bleeding issues associated with it. For the clarification the demo of milking machines was arranged which satisfied the dairy farmers.
Talking to this scribe, Assistant Manager SMEDA, Hafizullah Khan said that the well-co-ordinated efforts of SMEDA and Livestock Department has resulted in building the confidence of the livestock farmers and input suppliers. He said that the livestock farmers have been sharing about their issues related to the farms management and marketing. They not only need support in shape of financing for their farms' development but also guidance on best farm management and disease control practices.
