KP Governor, Engineer Iqbal Zafar Jhagra has said that seeking higher knowledge is a universal subject. While addressing as the chief guest at the first convocation of the University of Swat at its premises in Swat on Monday, he said, "While the younger generation of Pakistan is second to none in the world, it is also equally important to making the required quality of opportunities, resources and encouragement available to them to be able to compete in the emerging circumstances".
The pioneer batch comprised 195 graduates. The ceremony was also attended by the Advisor to Prime Minister Amir Muqam, some of the members of Parliament from the area besides vice chancellors from almost all the public sector universities of the province, educationists and parents of the graduating students. 50 students were honoured with gold medals for achieving distinctions in their respective disciplines.
Meanwhile, the governor who is also the Chancellor of the university also presided over a meeting of its senate at the campus. The governor on the occasion pointed out that the government on its part is committed to provide financial and material resources but simultaneously the teachers and parents should also continue their effective role to ensure conducive learning environment and encouragement to the students.
