Thirty-six teams participated in the qualifying round of ICAP National Finance Olympiad 2016 that was held at the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan's (ICAP) offices in Karachi and Lahore simultaneously on Tuesday. It was an intensive 3-hour MCQ-based exams developed by the technical partners 'A F Ferguson' and 'Ernst and Young.' The computer-based testing (CBT) alongside enhanced exam security brought quick scoring and the results were announced at an impressive ceremony within a couple of hours.
The top 6 teams that won the qualifying round included: Central Depository Company of Pakistan Limited, Gadoon Textile Mills, Grant Thornton Anjum Rahman Chartered Accountants, Kot Addu Power Company, Haleeb Foods Limited and KPMG Taseer Hadi & Company. Winners have reached the Grand Finale that will be held on November 28 in Karachi.
"Main purpose of Pakistan's premier finance competition is to engage finance professionals for professional development in a unique way and encourage them to discover their potential, exhibit their talent and celebrate their competence in a befitting manner," said Khalilullah Shaikh, Chairman PAIB and Vice President-South ICAP.
Ali Tariq, Chief Financial Officer, Unilever Pakistan, said that NFO was organized in collaboration with Unilever Pakistan and its collaboration with the lCAP in launching the first-ever National Finance Olympiad in 2015 was part of the organisation's keen interest in its contribution to the development of the finance profession in Pakistan.
