Wajahat Husain, President & CEO UBL and Chairman of Board of Directors UBL Bank (Tanzania) Limited (UBTL) welcomed Dr. Ashatu K. Kijaji (MP) Deputy Minister of Finance & Planning who was the Chief Guest at the inauguration ceremony of the Kariakoo Branch of UBL Bank (Tanzania) Limited. Also present at the occasion were the Directors of UBTL and other dignitaries and leading entrepreneurs of Tanzania.
The new branch of UBTL is ideally located in the heart of the business district of Dar-es-Salaam. This branch in Kariakoo is unique amongst other bank branches located in that area as it is geared to provide the bank's innovative product suite with world class service to its customers in different business segments.
UBL's decision to choose Tanzania for its first foray into Africa was based on a number of positives about the country. These include its sound economic performance as evidenced by its GDP growth, its political stability, the country's abundant natural resources and the fact that the Dar-es-Salaam port serves as an important conduit in facilitating the trade flows within Tanzania and beyond to 6 neighbouring countries.
Dr. Ashatu K. Kijaji (MP) Deputy Minister of Finance & Planning, after the inauguration ceremony, said that it was encouraging to see the interest of global financial institutions to begin their operations in the Sub-Saharan region, especially Tanzania. She further added, "Pakistan enjoys a cordial relationship with Tanzania and UBL's further investment testifies this relationship."
Commenting on the occasion, Wajahat Husain, President & CEO UBL said, "I am proud and honoured that UBTL has opened its new branch at Kariakoo. We thank the Government of Tanzania, Bank of Tanzania and our customers for the confidence and trust they have placed in UBTL. Under the wise leadership of John Pombe Magufuli, President of the United Republic of Tanzania, UBTL will expand and grow by participating in the visionary economic policies of the government and its regulator. UBTL will continue in its pursuit of providing superior financial products and services to our valued customers. This stems from our corporate belief 'Where You Come First'".-PR
