The Karachi Port handled 204,874 tonnes of cargo comprising 166,666 tonnes of import cargo and 38,208 tonnes of export cargo including 6,375 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Wednesday.
The total import cargo of 166,666 tonnes comprised of 53,312 tonnes of containerised cargo; 21,039 tonnes of general cargo; 43,315 tonnes of coal and 49,000 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 38,208 tonnes comprised of 34,219 tonnes of containerised cargo; 10 tonnes of general cargo and 3,979 tonnes of rice.
As many as 6,375 containers comprising of 3,717 containers import and 2,658 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 1,239 of 20's and 1,031 of 40's loaded while 26 of 20's and 195 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 1,250 of 20's and 149 of 40's loaded containers while 302 of 20's and 404 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were six ships namely APL Pearl, Octaden, Glovis Captain, CNS Handan, Shengshi 2 Hao and Zhe Jia Wen Gong-3 carrying containers, chemical, vehicle, navy ship and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were three vessels viz. Hyundai Oakland, MT Quetta and Glovis Captain carrying containers, oil tanker and vehicle respectively currently at the berths.
There were seven ships namely KMTC Mumbai, Cosco Wellington, MT Quetta, Glovis Melody, Bulk Chile, Eagle Strait and Jia Mao Shan carrying containers, oil tanker, coal and steel respectively sailed out to sea on Wednesday while four ships namely Kota Karim, Cosco Haifa, Cape Marin and Al-Soor-II carrying containers and oil tanker respectively are expected to sail on Thursday.
There were three vessels viz. Shanghai Trader, MOL Endowment and Salz Gitter carrying containers and unit due to arrive on Wednesday while four vessels viz. Kota Lembah, Hyundai Brave, Golden Denise and Al Mahboobah carrying containers, oil tanker and chemical respectively are due to arrive on Thursday.
The total import cargo of 89,710 tonnes includes 29,321 tonnes of diesel oil; 20,000 tonnes of palm oil; 1,961 tonnes of LPG; 4,486 tonnes of canola seeds; 6,000 tonnes of chemical; 5,826 tonnes of cement and 22,116 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 27,770 tonnes includes 4,894 tonnes of cement and 22,876 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 2,268 containers comprising of 1,164 containers import and 1,104 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.
There were two ships namely MV Lia-M and MV Sea Delta carrying bulk cargo and chemical sailed out to sea on Wednesday morning.
A total number of eight vessels viz. CV Al-Ghero, CV MSC Valencia, MV Diyaa B, MV Lia-M, MV Sea Delta, MT Maria-III, MT Wall Eye and MT Bunga Allium currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, cement, sunflower seeds, chemical, LPG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as eight ships namely CV Maersk Stockholm, MV Kavo Platanos, MV Talia, MT Sienna Princess, MT Rise Fortune, MT Lion-M, MT Harmony and MT Elan Bital carrying containers, sunflower seeds, canola seeds, LPG, furnace oil and diesel oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim on Wednesday.
There were three vessels viz. CV Maersk Stockholm, MV Kavo Platanos and MT Sienna Princess carrying containers, sunflower seeds and LPG expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Grain & Fertilizer Terminal and SSGC LPG Terminal respectively on Wednesday.
There were four ships namely CV MSC Al-Ghero, MV Bulk Chile. MV Eternity SW and MV Momentum Scan carrying containers, coal, steel product and project cargo respectively due to arrive on Wednesday.
