yousuf-gilaniKARACHI: The Supreme Court of Pakistan has summoned Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani to appear before the apex court in contempt of court hearing on February 13, according to the media on Thursday. The media also reported that the Prime Minister may be indicted when he appers before the court.

Talking to the media, Prime Minister’s counsel Barrister Aitzaz Ahsan said that “I’m not here to defend contempt of court charges, I’m here to uphold the Constitution.”

During the hearing of the show cause notice in the NRO implementation case, the apex court said it was satisfied with Aitzaz Ahsan’s preliminiary arguments.

Ahsan said, “We don’t want any friction between the judiciary and the executive,” and added, “We have the right to appeal.”

A seven-member larger bench of the Supreme Court was hearing Prime Minister Gilani’s contempt of court case.
