The Karachi Port handled 121,648 tonnes of cargo comprising 97,523 tonnes of import cargo and 24,125 tonnes of export cargo including 4,434 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Friday. The total import cargo of 97,523 tonnes comprised of 37,488 tonnes of containerised cargo; 5,605 tonnes of general cargo; 2,349 tonnes of soyabean meal and 52,081 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. The total export cargo of 24,125 tonnes comprised of 19,398 tonnes of containerised cargo; 2,327 tonnes of rice and 2,400 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
As many as 4,434 containers comprising of 2,847 containers import and 1,587 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday. The break-up of imported containers shows 724 of 20's and 977 of 40's loaded while 15 of 20's and 77 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 422 of 20's and 389 of 40's loaded containers while 15 of 20's and 186 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were four ships namely Cosco Haifa, Hyundai Oakland, Batam Trader and JO Pinari carrying containers and mogas respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were seven vessels viz. Kota Lembah, Hyundai Jakarta, Sima Giselle, Loyalty, Euro Strength, Chem Singapore and Ru Yi Song carrying containers, oil tankers and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.
There were two ships namely Chem Singapore and Loyalty carrying oil tankers sailed out to sea on Friday while two ships namely Hyundai Jakarta and Euro Strength carrying containers and oil tanker respectively are expected to sail on Saturday. There were three vessels Hyundai Brave, Marylisa-V and Aby SS carrying containers and oil tanker respectively due to arrive on Friday while six vessels viz. Hyundai Singapore, Ever Rich-2, MT Karachi, MT Lahore, Bright World and King Corn carrying containers, oil tankers, chemical and DAP respectively are due to arrive on Saturday.

PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 142,548 tonnes comprising 92,130 tonnes of import cargo and 50,418 tonnes of export cargo inclusive 3,300 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Friday. The total import cargo of 92,130 tonnes includes 41,424 tonnes of furnace oil; 4,166 tonnes of LPG; 8,223 tonnes of sunflower seeds; 17,291 tonnes of coal; 5,826 tonnes of cement and 15,200 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 50,418 tonnes includes 2,918 tonnes of cement and 47,500 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 3,300 containers comprising of 800 containers import and 2,500 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday. There was one ship namely MT Maria-III carrying LPG sailed out to sea on Friday morning, while three ships namely CV Maersk Stockholm, CV Suez Canal and MV Diyaa B carrying containers and cement respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of eight vessels viz. CV Suez Canal, CV Maersk Stockholm, MV Bulk Chile, MV Diyaa B, MV Kavo Platanos, MT Maria-III, MT Sienna Princess and MT Harmony currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, cement, sunflower seeds, LPG and furnace oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as seven ships namely CV Monte Alegre, MV Talia, MV Momentum Scan, MT Giene, MT Rise Fortune, MT Lion-M and MT Elan Bital carrying containers, canola seeds, project cargo, furnace oil and diesel oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim on Friday. There were four vessels viz. CV Monte Alegre, CV Hugo Schulte, MV Momentum Scan and MT Argent Aster carrying containers, project cargo and palm oil expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Friday.
There were three ships namely CV Hugo Schulte, MV Eternity SW and MV KSL Chao Yang carrying containers, steel product and project cargo respectively due to arrive on Friday. There is one ship namely CV Safmarine Nayassa carrying containers due to arrive on Saturday.
